C.C. Sabathia wins AL Cy Young Award

What a great way to start off a new blog.

C.C. Sabathia wins AL Cy Young Award.  It has a good ring to it.  Can you name the ONLY other Indian to win the Cy Young Award while wearing the Tribe uniform?

Nope.  Try again.

The only other Cleveland pitcher to win the award was Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry in 1972.  Sabathia is the first African-American pitcher to win a Cy Young Award since Dwight Gooden of the Mets in ‘85, and the first in the AL since Oakland’s Vida Blue in ‘71.

Sabathia was 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA, 209 strikeouts, and pitching a major league-high 241 innings.
